About AIS

Every ship broadcasts
its location—
we listen.

AIS (Automatic Identification System) is a mandatory radio transponder fitted on all commercial vessels over 300 gross tonnes. Every few minutes, it broadcasts the ship's identity, position, speed, course, and destination to a global network of terrestrial and satellite receivers.

SOLAS Convention requires AIS on all international vessels, making it the most comprehensive real-time maritime data source in the world. Traqo taps into this network so you can locate any vessel, anywhere, instantly.

How it works

Three steps to
any vessel's position

01

Enter vessel details

Type the vessel name for live autocomplete suggestions, or enter the 7-digit IMO or 9-digit MMSI number directly.

02

We query live AIS data

We pull from global AIS networks — terrestrial receivers and satellite feeds — to find the vessel's most recent broadcast.

03

See the vessel on the map

The vessel's live position, speed, course, destination port, and ETA appear instantly on the interactive map above.
